Every year I see around 50 companies ‘on the inside’ through our Cut the Crap Marketing Sessions . There we jointly take the first steps towards building their brand. I think it is one of the best things to do. The diversity of entrepreneurs and companies that we can help is enormous. That made it even more interesting when I found out that if there are pitfalls, they are the same for almost everyone. WHAT !? Reason enough to name them. 1. Want to be there for everyone I often share this & like. Nobody is there for everyone. But then nobody really. No man and no brand. The faster you get over here, the better. About it? Then you can start building your brand authentically, without ever having to adjust. We use the core values for this. These values indicate what your brand stands for. By actively sharing this, you attract customers who share the same values. These customers fit perfectly with you! It also helps in making choices. Roy E. Disney says it nicely: “It’s not hard to make decisions when you know what your values are.” 2. Be quiet For me, this is delicious. I can naturally keep my mouth shut and then I also speak quite loudly. Tasty at school, for building a brand delicious. But do not be mistaken, you really do not have to scream. Do it especially your way. Whisper, type, start a podcast, vlog or blog, but let’s hear from you. Grab your values and translate them into content that suits you. That means you do not have time to constantly look at others. Fortunately, I do not believe in building a brand here either. Look at yourself and the people in your organization and build your unique brand there. In addition, looking at others invites copy behavior. While the brands that do it completely differently win. 4. Alternate Nothing is as damaging to a brand (under construction) as mixed signals. ‘Branding’ is nothing more than repeating your message up to the sadness. Your logo, your brand story, your look & feel. People do not just stop other people from stopping, they also want to give a place to brands. Make them as easy as possible and stick with it 5. Fear Fear of making tough choices. Fear of losing a target group. Fear not to make enough sales. Fear, fear, fear. Fear that is often directly tied to money. Understandable, but not convenient. And if you do not watch out, it costs you money. Because if you do not dare to change or do not dare to choose, you can just miss out on beautiful things. Which pitfalls do you recognize?
